About

El Adobe Restaurant was a much loved Mexican food restaurant in Sarasota, FL with a popular following for over 40 years. Chef Stash created the delicious food from authentic family recipes.  When the restaurant closed, the fabulous chips & salsa, queso, and blue cheese dressing also ceased, but is made on occasion by a few members of the Diaz family.

Our family was a long time local supplier to El Abode and through that association and friendship with Chef Stash, he graciously provided us with a few of his original recipes, as well as where he sourced those amazing chips from. After obtaining the same chips from the manufacturer and careful taste tests, the salsa & chips, queso, and blue cheese dressing is now available to El Adobe fans once again.

Like any chef, Chef Stash obtained his ingredients from several sources and anyone who ate there regularly, noticed the slight taste and texture variation in the salsa. It was always good, but as with any recipe that contains fresh ingredients, the taste always varied just a bit. Our salsa strictly follows the recipe Chef Stash provided and also has slight variations based on the fresh ingredients.

Just to be clear, our family is not related to the Diaz family, any former staff members, or Mary Keim who  owned and operated The El Adobe restaurant in Warrenville, Illinois, and later in Sarasota, Florida for more than 40 years.

This a simply a hobby that we choose to share with other El adobe fans because of our love for the this tremendous food. We are especially grateful to Chef Stash for sharing and trusting us with his recipes.
